Hello all and Welcome to Addi’s prediction
Match no 44
KXIP VS KKR
ABOUT THE MATCH
With just 13 matches to go in the round-robin stage of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, the priority and the focus of the teams will be to gather and sustain momentum. While the teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are sitting pretty and have the room for experimentation, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals can no longer afford any slip off whatsoever. Kolkata Knight Riders will now travel to Indore to lock horns with Kings XI Punjab at Holkar Stadium, Indore on 12th May 2018.
KINGS XI PUNJAB
Despite two losses in their last three games, Kings XI Punjab find themselves sitting comfortably in the third position with seven wins in ten games. They haven’t been able to sustain the momentum they gathered in the first half of the tournament and that will concern the team management.
Poor track record at Sawai Mansingh Stadium continued to haunt Kings XI Punjab as they failed to win for the fifth time in Jaipur. Kings XI Punjab made two changes with Ankit Rajpoot and Mayank Agarwal making way for Mohit Sharma and Akshdeep Nath respectively. Jos Buttler’s belligerent innings at the top for the Royals kept Kings XI Punjab guessing. Bowlers did manage to pull things back as they restricted the Royals for 158. Andrew Tye and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were once again the picks of the bowlers as they finished with the figures of 4-0-34-4 and 4-0-21-2 respectively.
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
Mumbai Indians’ rise from the bottom of the table to one of the top-four is not an ordinary feat. Equally surprising is KKR’s slide from a comfortable position in top-four to a situation where they’ll be fighting for survival in the competition. A massive 102-run loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians have left them in a spot of bother.
With Dinesh Karthik winning the toss and deciding to chase first, it was advantage KKR. With Mumbai 62-2 after 9 overs, KKR was well set to restrict Mumbai Indians to a modest total, but Ishan Kishan had other ideas. Ishan Kishan’s extraordinary display of skills was helped by wayward bowling and some poor captaincy decisions. The decision to bowl Piyush Chawla in the last over was surprising as well given the fact that Tom Curran had one over remaining.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
It’s a day game and Indore can get pretty hot in summers. Short boundaries have helped the batsmen, but the pitch has been a little on the slower side in the last couple of games played here. It’s a day game and batting tends to get easier under lights here. Expect the captains to field first after winning the toss.

DD VS RCB
ABOUT THE MATCH
We have a bottom of the table clash to look forward to in this match between the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Delhi Daredevils are the first team to have been knocked out of contention for the playoffs spot and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have a very thin chance of making it themselves. Never the less, there will be plenty to play for as players try and retain their places for future editions. RCB is technically still alive in the tournament and so winning this game will be paramount for Virat Kohli and his men.
It took a supreme effort from Rishab Pant, who played one of the best innings in the history of the IPL, for the Delhi Daredevils to be able to put up a defendable total in their last match. In fact, the total was a formidable one on a pitch that seemed to have some help in it for the bowlers but the ease with which it was chased down would be very disconcerting for the Delhi Daredevils.
Harshal Patel was the only bowler that was able to pick a wicket as all the Delhi Daredevil bowlers failed to find a way past the Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen. Now they will be up against a faltering RCB batting lineup and they would hope to do better.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
Seven losses from ten matches are not what you would expect from a team that has the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Brendon McCullum, and Quinton de Kock on its roster. For some reason, though, RCB just keeps on finding ways to lose from positions it should never have.
The reasons for that happening could be many but their bowling has to bear the brunt of the blame.
Senior bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, and Yuzvendra Chahal have failed to stand up to the pressure when it matters the most. Inconsistency in performance from one match to the other has prevented Virat Kohli from having set plans for every match.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
The pitch in the last match played much better than was expected. It took a little turn but did not offer the kind of assistance to the slower bowlers as one could have imagined. The surface also seemed to get better as the match progressed. We think that this match could see some more assistance for the spinners but the overall balance remains in favor of the batsmen. We think a score of 170 should be considered as a good total on this pitch.
