Hello all and welcome to Addi’s Prediction
Match No. 46
CSK vs SRH
ABOUT THE MATCH
With Chennai’s recent loss to Rajasthan Royals, the race to the top-four has suddenly come alive. Not unlike Kings XI Punjab, a long break in the middle of the tournament didn’t help Chennai Super Kings as well. Unless something dramatic happens in the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League, CSK should consider them safe to qualify for the playoffs. However, they’d love to be on the safer side and get their eighth win of the tournament as soon as possible. Up against them next are Sunrisers Hyderabad as we move to Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am GMT and considering the fact that these two teams have conquered the table for the most part of this year’s IPL, it is expected to be nothing short of the clash of the Titans.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
Chennai Super Kings love to make things interesting. Don’t they? It has been their trademark to take the games to the last over of the innings and now they’re well on their way to do it with the playoff spot as well. CSK thumped the Royals when they met for the first time in this year’s IPL and the Rajasthan Royals returned the favor as they just edged Chennai in a last-wicket victory on Friday.
Who would have imagined about Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers conceding in excess of 70 runs in death overs? With a stellar bowling attack, which had conceded the least by any team in the tournament prior to the last game, were thwarted to all parts of the ground by Rishabh Pant.
Despite the hammering their bowlers received by Rishabh Pant in their last game, the Sunrisers Hyderabad shouldn’t be too concerned about it. For one, it could be an eye-opener for their bowlers before the playoffs. Secondly, they’d be delighted to see Shikhar Dhawan coming back to form.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
It’s a day game and as the weather forecast is mostly sunny, it is expected to be piping hot. It was a two-paced wicket in the last match between CSK and RCB where batting was a little difficult. We expect it to be a better batting surface as compared to the last time. With short boundaries on one side, a total in the range of 160 will be a par score on this wicket.

ABOUT THE MATCH
Some late jitters for the early leaders and a return to form for some of the team lagging behind has meant that the fight for the final playoff spot is very much alive going into the final week of matches. Two of the teams that are in the thick of things, the Mumbai Indians, and the Rajasthan Royals will be taking on each other in this contest. Both teams have won more matches than they have lost recently and are peaking at the right time. This is a must-win game for both teams because a loss could make it very difficult for them to qualify.
It looks like the Mumbai Indians are on their way to pulling off one of their famous escape tricks this year as well. The team is now in the-4 for the first time since the season began and will do anything to stay there.
The record of the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals is exactly the same at this point in time. Both teams have lost six matches and won five out of the eleven that they have played. There is, however, a huge difference in the type of cricket the two teams play and the nature of their squad composition.
Playing at home will be a huge advantage for Mumbai Indians in this tense encounter. They have a team that should on paper be able to play well in most conditions and that is exactly what the team has been proving over the last few matches.
The Rajasthan Royals must be ruing not having Jos Buttler open the inning for them from the very first game. Pushing the Englishman up the order has made such a huge difference to the team that in hindsight it looks like a massive blunder on the teams part.
Buttler now has four consecutive half-centuries and single-handedly won Rajasthan the match against the Chennai Super Kings in the last match. He has been starting quick and ensuring that he is able to smash the big sixes to help close out the match as well.
The question, though, is if he can continue to do the job for Rajasthan alone every single time?
Ben Stokes opened the batting for the first time against CSK and we are not sure if he is going to do that again in the upcoming matches. The Rajasthan Royals already have a lot of trouble in trying to figure out their batting order that throwing another option in the mix may not be the best option.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
There is a 10 percent chance of rain that has been predicted for match day. The pitch in Mumbai is among the best for batting and both the bowling sides are sure to be under pressure. Dew has not been too much of an issue so far but as the monsoon season approaches, the humidity starts to become more of an issue in Mumbai. The spinners may have a tough time gripping the ball in the second inning and batting will become easier as the ball comes on easier to the bat.
