Match 15, IPL 2018

RR vs KKR Match Preview

Jaipur, April 18 at 08:00 PM IST

Rajasthan Royals, the only team in this year’s IPL to have defended the set total twice, takes on Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. It will be a contest of the equals with both the teams coming into the fixtures after registering comprehensive victories in their previous fixtures.

RR overpowered the mighty RCB in their backyard on Sunday, courtesy Sanju Samson’s special innings. With the ball, spinner Shreyas Gopal bowled superbly to one of the most destructive batting lineups in the IPL and returned with figures of 2/22 which included AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli’s scalps.

KKR too were clinical against DD on Monday’s fixture. First, the Knight Rider’s batting performed at their best to put on a par score and later their spinners flattened the DD chase.

Team News and Probable 11:

Rajasthan Royals

After being humbled by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first game, the Rajasthan Royals have come back admirably well with a rain-marred win over Delhi and they followed it up with a clinical win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy.

Sanju Samson was the chief architect of Rajasthan’s win as the talented Kerela batsman stroked a pristine 92 to set an improbable 218 runs for RCB to win, and the bowlers led by Shreyas Gopal (2-22), complimented the batsman’s effort as they reduced a star-studded RCB batting line-up to 6-198, setting up a 19 run win. The Royals now move to Jaipur, on a ground that has long been a fortress for them, more than 70% win record.

Probable XI:

Rahul Tripathi, Ajinkya Rahane (capt), D’Archy Short, Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, S.Gopal, K Gowtham, Ben Laughlin/Jofra Archer, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat

Kolkata Knight Riders

After an insipid batting performance against the Sunrisers Hyderabad a few nights ago, the Knight Riders came storming back against the Delhi Daredevils last night.

Spearheaded by Chriss Lynn (31) at the top, the middle order in Rana (59), Uthappa (35) and Russell (41 off 12 balls), cashed in big time, and accumulated 9-200 in their quota of 20 overs. While their batting was impressive, the bowling was exceptional.

Spearheaded by Sunil Narine (3-18), who became just the third bowler to take 100 plus wickets for a single IPL Franchise, and ably supported by Yadav (3-32), KKR demolished the DD batting line-up as they completed a 71 run victory.

The Knight Riders now travel to Jaipur, and with a humongous win in the last match and short turnaround between games, they are expected to field the same playing 11.

Probable 11:

Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa (wk), Dinesh Karthik (capt), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Shubhman Gill, Piyush Chawla Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Tom Curran, Shivam Mavi
