Team News and Probable XI:
Chennai Super Kings
The Super Kings would believe that they got out of the jail, thanks to the heroics of all-rounder Dwayne Bravo in their tournament opener against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. At 6-84, while chasing 165, they looked well and truly out of the contest, only to be saved by a belligerent Bravo, who smashed 68 off just 30 balls to cap off a sensational win for CSK.
While Shane Watson fared well with both bat and ball (2-29 & 16 off 14 balls), it is their middle-order in Raina, Dhoni, and Rayudu, who threw away his wicket after a fine start, that will need to step-up in the upcoming games. Kedar Jadhav, who hit the winning shot in the last over, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, he had sustained in the last encounter.
Murali Vijay is expected to make a comeback in place of Kedar Jadhav, while Mark Wood might give way to Faf du Plessis or Lungi Ngidi.
Murali Vijay, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi/Faf du Plessis/Mark Wood
Kolkata Knight Riders
The two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders ushered in a new era under the leadership of Dinesh Karthik, with a sparkling win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While Sunil Narine was the game-changer for the Knight Riders, scoring 50 of just 19 balls, whilst bamboozling the batsmen with his bowling. While Chris Lynn missed out, the likes of Rana, Karthik, and Andre Russell played valiantly to bring up a comfortable win for KKR. Not much changes are expected in the squad except Vinay Kumar, who was expensive in the previous match, might pave way Kamlesh Nagarkoti.
Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa (wk), Dinesh Karthik (capt), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Piyush Chawla Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Johnson, Vinay Kumar/ Kamlesh Nagarkoti
